Heart of Our Mission

This journey began with a deeply personal experience. As a mother, I witnessed my developmentally delayed daughter transition from an infant born with a natural love for books to a young lady who, unfortunately, began to dismiss reading materials at her designated level as "books for babies." This heartbreaking transformation sparked my determination to address a critical gap in available reading resources. 

A Mother's Mission

Being a lifelong lover of literature, the inability to find books at lower reading levels with content designed for individuals above the age of seven was disheartening. This realization became the catalyst for the creation of [Your Program Name], a platform that aims to fill the void left by societal shortcomings for our silent and disadvantaged readers. 

Peacock & Pineapple, exists to bridge this gap, ensuring that individuals of all ages and reading abilities can access materials that captivate, inspire, and cater to their unique interests. Our commitment is not just about literacy; it's about fostering a lifelong love for reading, breaking down barriers, and building bridges to a brighter, more inclusive future.

The Read2Rise program will provide a wide array of reading materials with easily understandable and mature content that captivates and excites our readers. Functional illiteracy or poor literacy has long been associated with negative consequences such as low self-esteem, behavioral challenges, and social and economic isolation. A major contributing factor to illiteracy is the scarcity of books tailored to lower reading levels and the lack of engaging content suitable for mature audiences.

At Peacock & Pineapple, we're on the brink of unveiling a revolutionary reading program designed to empower and uplift disadvantaged readers, opening doors to a world of opportunities and success. Our Read2Rise initiative is carefully crafted to cater to a diverse and mature audience, offering a rich array of books and resources to enhance literacy skills and cultivate a love for reading. This program is designed for public school students in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs),  students in English as a Second Language (ESL) programs, elder adult literacy program participants, Disability Outreach Program participants, clients of unaffiliated developmentally delayed adults with reading deficiencies, and public libraries.

• Interactive Website: Immerse yourself in a dynamic online platform featuring reading games, progress-tracking tools, community news, events, and a social platform—designed to create a vibrant and supportive reading community.

Rise & Read employs "designed instruction," adapting content, assistive methodology, and delivery to meet the unique educational needs of each student, ensuring that access to the general curriculum aligns with state and district educational standards.
